June 15, 2016

Connect - Collaborate - Celebrate:
A Message From Board Member, Dr. Oren Renick

National Volunteer Caregiving Network & Shepherd's Centers of America Present:

Connect - Collaborate - Celebrate
National Conference
October 25 through 27, 2016
Kansas City, MO

The Early Bird rate of $114 continues through June 15, 2016, but the time to register is now!

The conference will be awesome! Those who attended the 2014 conference at Lake Junaluska, NC remember it as a wonderful event – renewal, reunion and new learning were just some of the outcomes. The 2016 conference in Kansas City will be better.

Featured speakers include Sherry Prindle, a life/executive coach and motivational presenter who is co-author of 15 Winning Ways to Better Living; and Jim Firman, president and CEO of the National Council on Aging who will present NCOA’s Aging Mastery Program and related programs for elders. Sherry will highlight the Tuesday program as Jim will for the Wednesday session.

A highlight of Wednesday morning will be the respective business and networking meetings of NVCN and SCA. Thursday will see the excellence awards presentations for outstanding volunteers and organizations. Also, we want to hear from you. Let us know if your organization or a key person received local, state, regional, or national recognition. We want to also celebrate these achievements on Thursday.

Concurrent workshop sessions will address Age Friendly Communities, Board Development, Caregiving, Marketing, Transportation, Volunteerism and other important topics. The takeaways will be significant.

An impressive array of sponsors like AARP will be present. The opportunity to network and collaborate with like-minded organizations is impressive.

This Connect, Collaborate and Celebrate conference is the right event, at the right time, and for the right people.

Oren Renick, Immediate Past Chair
NVCN Board of Directors

Did You Know?

Caregiver Canines® Visiting Therapy Dog Program partnered with NVCN last year to share our program with all NVCN’s affiliates.  Caregiver Canines and its parent program, Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey, are based in Ocean County, NJ.  Our unique program brings certified therapy dogs to visit seniors in their private homes.  This one on one visit allows for a strong bond to form between the senior, the dog and the dog’s handler.  Our Caregiver Canines® help ease the loneliness and depression that so many of our receivers experience on a daily basis.  We are excited to announce that we now partnered with Share Care Faith in Action in Bethlehem, PA; Faith in Action in Medina, OH and Williamsburg Faith in Action in Williamsburg, VA.  If you would like to learn more about our program please contact Danielle Maley atThis email address is being protected from spambots.
