Vilma Contreras
At the age of 15, Vilma, was part of an Intergenerational Project helping seniors in her community. She helped with yard work and visited many seniors. Decades later, in late 2016, she became the Executive Director for Community Partners in Caring and launched an aggressive plan to revitalize the agency. Two years later, the Volunteer Program has grown from 28 volunteers to 90 adult volunteers, she launched an Intergenerational Project with 3 students and it quickly swelled to 47 and counting; the number of seniors served has doubled – from 200 seniors enrolled to over 400; providing, on average, 90 services per month. Today, she leads a team of seven; the agency is thriving and expanding throughout Santa Barbara County; helping seniors “age in place” county-wide. Vilma earned her Bachelor’s Degree from University of California Los Angeles and her Master’s Degree from Cal Lutheran University. She specializes in Organizational Capacity Building and has over 25 years’ experience in management and the non-profit sector.
